Prima Princessa presents The Nutcracker Review

You may remember last year, I told you about Prima Princessa and the wonderful ballet DVD "Swan Lake". I was lucky to be able to review another wonderful DVD Prima Princessa presents "The Nutcracker" which is one of my all time favorite ballets. This was the first ballet I took Jaina to and she cannot wait to return to see it again this year.

The producers of the “Prima Princessa” DVD series, Stephanie Troeller and Mary Kate Mellow, are both mothers of dance loving daughters, who were the original source of inspiration for the series. Each DVD in the series has the cartoon fairy ballerina Prima Princessa escort a group of pre-schoolers on a magical journey to see a live performance of a classic storybook ballet, delightfully narrated so children may fully understand the plot. Between acts, they return home and in fun colorful montages of toys, animals, and kids, they learn ballet steps from students at the School of American Ballet, the official academy of the New York City Ballet. The creative duo is motivated by a deep desire to bring the beauty and wonder of ballet into the lives of young children who otherwise might not have that opportunity.

Prima Princessa presents The Nutcracker definitely brings the beauty and wonder of ballet to DVD. Even though Jaina had seen the Nutcracker live, she was still amazed watching this DVD. She laughed, danced and learned the names of the ballet steps. She danced around the living room and practiced saying the names of the steps while trying to do them. I love that the Nutcracker is interactive, your child can follow along and not only is it fun, it is educational. Here is a little video of Jaina and how engaged she was watching this DVD.

She's a precious Ballerina, so pretty in her costume too. I think she does really well for her age.
